  • Notes:East Dunbartonshire Council made the named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed sections of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works) on the lengths of roads detailed in the Schedule below, by reason of works being executed on or near this road.

    As part of the works, the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off as required and rolling temporary traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities as required will be used to control traffic movements on the A803 Kirkintilloch Road between the access road to Morrisons supermarket and a point north of its junction with Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day. The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

Alternative diversion routes will be by way of the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Brackenbrae Road, and Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted.

  • Reason for closure: Contractor carrying out various groundworks including the formation of a new access. These works are associated with the new Cala Housing Development presently under construction. There are also repairs being carried out on the existing former railway bridge on Chryston Road, due to corrosion discovered during the site investigation
  • Road affected: Chryston Road, Fauldhead, at a location to the east of its junction with Market Road, Kirkintilloch
  • Duration: Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on 17 September 2025
  • Notes: In order to prevent danger to the public arising from damage to the structural integrity of the bridge over the former railway bridge and for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, East Dunbartonshire Council will require to extend the existing temporary road closure on Chryston Road Fauldhead, between its junctions with Market Road, Kirkintilloch, and Sauchenhall Road/Muckcroft Road from 6pm on Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025

The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Reason for temporary traffic management: Council Transportation is to carry out various works associated with the active travel corridor.
  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: A807 Auchenhowie Road, between a point east of its junction with Finlay Rise and Alllander Toll Roundabout.
  • Duration: 9.30am on Monday 4 November till 4 April 2025
  • Notes: This work is associated with the A807 Active Travel Corridor project.
    The works area will be from east of the Rangers FC training ground to the Allander Toll roundabout. The works programme has been broken down into six phases, with each phase approximately 250m in length. In the interests of contractor and public health and safety, temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic past each phase of work.
    In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary two, three and four way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Auchenhowie Road between a point east of its junction with Finlay Rise and Allander Toll Roundabout. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

  • Reason for temporary traffic management: Network Rail is to carry out railway bridge works
  • Town: Near Twechar
  • Road affected:B8048 Waterside Road at at its junction with Twechar Road at Drumgew Bridge, near Twechar 
  • Duration: 9.15am until 4.30pm, each day, from Monday 24 March 2025 for approximately two weeks, then thereafter, from 8pm until 6am, each night/morning for an additional two weeks until Friday 18 April 2025
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two/three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.

Scheduled temporary traffic restrictions

  • Reason for temporary traffic restrictions: EDC Roads Operations is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.
  • Town: Bishopbriggs
  • Road affected:

    Springfield Road, Bishopbriggs, Closed between its junctions with Arnold Avenue and the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs.  The alternative diversion routes will be by way of Muir Street, Emerson Road, Emerson Road West, Lee Crescent, Crowhill Road, the B812 Auchinairn Road, Colston Road and the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted

    Crowhill Road, Bishopbriggs, Closed between its junctions with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and Emerson Road West, Bishopbriggs.  The alternative diversion routes will be by way of the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Colston Road, the B812 Auchinairn Road, and Crowhill Road, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will  be sign posted.  South Crosshill Road, Wester Cleddens Road, Woodhill Road, Menteith Avenue and Springfield Road, Bishopbriggs, will also be sign posted

    Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs, Closed between its junctions with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and Kenmure Drive, Bishopbriggs.  The alternative diversion routes will be by way of the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Brackenbrae Road, and Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted.
  • Duration: 6am on Sunday 20 April 2025 until 18.00 hours on Sunday 4 May 2025
  • Notes: Access to the closed sections of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed sections of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works

    In addition, as part of the works, the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off as required and rolling temporary traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities as required will be used to control traffic movements on the A803 Kirkintilloch Road between the access road to Morrisons and a point north of its junction with Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs.  The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day. 

Scheduled temporary footpath restriction

Town: Kirkintilloch
Road affected: unnamed public footpath adjacent to Freeland Place/Luggiebank Road
Duration: 6am on Monday 17 March until 6pm on Sunday 27 April 2025.
Notes: Alternative routes for pedestrian will be by way of existing footpath network within Luggie Park, the existing underpass near the A806 Initiative Road/Parliament Road, existing footways on Parliament Road, Townhead, and Freeland Place, Kirkintilloch, and these routes will be sign posted.
