Civil registration services
Registration services are provided from our Community Hubs in Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Bearsden and Lennoxtown

Registration opening hours may vary from Community Hub opening hours, so please check before visiting.
As of 24 September 2022, the Registrar General allowed under sections 25 to 27 of the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Act 2022, remote birth (live and still-birth) and death registration [via telephone] to be an option across East Dunbartonshire. The signed directions are attached below.
Obtaining a certificate of birth, death, marriage and civil partnership
Certificates of birth, death, marriage and civil partnership (official extracts from the register) can be obtained from any registration office in Scotland on payment of the appropriate statutory fee.
Information you should provide
- Births - full name (at the time of registration), date and place of birth
- Death - full name, date of death and place of death
- Marriage/Civil Partnerships - full names of both parties, date of marriage/civil partnerships and place of marriage/civil partnership.
Certificates, can only be obtained from our Registration Offices based at our Community Hubs.
The statutory fees for performing Civil Registration Services are generally set by the Registrar General for Scotland. Those fees set by the Council are kept to a minimum to cover administration/operating costs.
Registration event and fee (As of 1 April 2024)
- Within Council premises during normal working hours (max four people): £155.00
- Within Council premises during normal working hours (up to 10 guests): £200.00
- Within Council premises during normal working hours (11-25 guests): £240.00
- Within Council premises during normal working hours (26-40 guests): £280.00
- Within Council premises during normal working hours (41-50 guests): £310.00
Within Council premises out with normal working hours (max four people): £300.00 - Within Council premises out with normal working hours (up to 50 guests) £440.00
- Please note that a non-refundable deposit of £100 is required for ceremonies of four or more. This amount is deducted from the fees above.
- At a place agreed between the local authority and the couple during normal working hours: £362.00
- At a place agreed between the local authority and the couple out with normal working hours: £470.00

- Abbreviated extract of birth issued at time of registration: free of charge
- Full extract of birth issued at time of registration (or within one month of date of registration): £10.00
- Full extract of birth issued after one month from the date of registration (available within 10 days): £15.00
- Abbreviated extract of death issued at time of registration: free of Charge
- Full extract of death issued at time of registration (or within one month of date of registration): £10.00
- Full extract of death issued after one month from the date of registration (available within 10 days): £15.00
- Extract Requests of birth, death, marriage & civil partnership (Out with the above) Premium Service (within 5 days): £30.00
- Extract requests of birth, death, marriage & civil partnership (outwit the above) Same day Service (collection only): £45.00
- Citizenship Ceremony scheduled ceremony delivered on behalf of the Home Office: No fee payable to local authority.
