Retail Capacity Assessment

Retail Capacity Assessments (RCA) are carried out to establish the capacity for additional retail development within identified catchment areas. They provide valuable evidence as part of the Local Development Plan preparation process and in assessing retail planning applications.

The most recent retail capacity study was carried out in 2013/14, as part of the preparation of the current East Dunbartonshire Local Development Plan. The Council will be updating its RCA in 2018/19, as part of the evidence base for its forthcoming Local Development Plan 2.

If you have any questions about the RCA process or retail planning in general, please contact the Land Planning Policy team by emailing
