Community councils are non-party political.

Polling will take place on Thursday 26 October 2017 between 6pm and 9pm at a local venue within the community council area, unless the elections are uncontested.

Details of any poll will be publicised in advance.

Returning Officer Gerry Cornes said, "Community councils act as a voice for their local area and form the most local tier of statutory representation in Scotland.

"They bridge the gap between local authorities and communities, and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent.

"Many community councils also involve themselves in a wide range of other activities including fundraising, organising community events, undertaking environmental and educational projects, and more."

Community council elections generally follow the same five-year cycle as Local Government elections.
