The Council consulted between 22 October 2018 and 3 March 2019 as part of a modernisation process to bring local conditions up to date - protecting the public and making it easier for members of the trade to comply with the law.

A number of events were held with drivers and operators, with two final meetings now arranged for the trade:

  • Tuesday 26 March - McGregor House, 10 Donaldson Crescent, Kirkintilloch, G66 1XF - 6-8pm
  • Wednesday 27 March - Bearsden Community Hub (Main Hall), 69 Drymen Road, Bearsden G61 3QT - 10am-noon.

The meetings provide opportunities for members of the trade to be briefed on finalised conditions.

Joint Leader, Councillor Andrew Polson, said, "The new conditions set out responsibilities for safety and reliability, as well as giving the Council and police clear guidance as regards enforcement powers. The goal is to promote safety, equality and accountability, as well as enhanced journey experiences."

Joint Leader, Councillor Vaughan Moody, added, "I am pleased at the high levels of engagement on new taxi and private hire conditions - both online and at meetings with members of the trade. I hope as many people as possible can attend on 26 or 27 March to hear more about the road ahead."
