Householders in East Dunbartonshire can now apply for garden waste permits for 2025 green bin collections.
The annual charge of £50 per green bin entitles the household to 19 fortnightly collections from March to November. A garden waste permit must be displayed in order for the green bin to be emptied.
Permits can be applied for online by visiting the Garden waste collection page.
Alternatively, residents can call Customer Services on 0300 123 4510 or visit one of our Community Hubs.
The introduction of a charge last year follows a unanimous decision taken at the Council's meeting in December 2023 and brings the Council in line with the majority of Scottish local authorities.
Councillor Paul Ferretti, Convener of the Council’s Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee, said, “It takes up to 14 days for a permit to arrive, so residents are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible.
The introduction of the charge for this non-statutory service in 2024 has allowed us to retain a garden waste collection service.
Residents who choose not to apply for a permit, can continue to dispose of garden waste at Mavis Valley Recycling Centre free of charge.”
