A selection of artists who exhibited during the year – including Denise Chateau-Loney, Tom Wilson, Geoff Foord and the Kelvin artists – have also been invited back to give visitors a second chance to enjoy their work. The exhibition is now open and runs until Thursday 19 December so plenty of time to pick a great haul of gifts.

In Milngavie, the Winter exhibition at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie launches on 16 November and runs until 19 December.

Featuring invited artists, this year’s event will showcase a selection of paintings, prints, glass and ceramics. There will also be range of sustainable Christmas gift ideas including paper decorations, local soaps and wood turning.

We are lucky to have so many talented artists and craftspeople living and working in East Dunbartonshire and to be able to support and showcase their work in our fantastic arts venues.
Councillor Jim Gibbons, Chair of EDLC

“I’d encourage everyone who is able to drop in over the coming weeks and see the wonderful array of work on display and for sale. Enjoy a lovely afternoon in the heart of our community and stock up on unique and thoughtful gifts at the same time – what’s not to love.”

Also, launching at the Lillie Art Gallery is a delightful exhibition of works by local artist Charles Randak featuring stunning Scottish landscapes. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, Randak’s work has been described as direct, unfussed brush strokes and knife work, usually in oils on canvas, to create large scale statement pieces.

The official opening of the two new Lillie exhibitions takes place at 2.30pm on Saturday 16 November and all are welcome to attend.

In addition, budding little artists can hone their skills and create some festive-themed works of their own as both venues are also holding festive family events. Accompanied children can come along and make some Christmas decorations, cards and get a glitter tattoo!!

Events are free, no booking is required, and tea and coffee will be provided for the adults. This event will be at the Lillie Art Gallery on November 30, between 2-4pm and two weeks later at Auld Kirk Museum, on Saturday 14 December, 10-12 and 2-4pm.
