Staff and pupils at Gartconner Primary and Early Years Centre are celebrating following a positive inspection report from Education Scotland.

Chief Education Officer Greg Bremner joined staff and pupils at Gartconner Primary and Early Years Centre in Kirkintilloch to celebrate their positive inspection report.

The school and early years centre were inspected in September 2024 and achieved the following ratings:

The inspection team described the children as confident, respectful, proud of their school/nursery and eager to learn and found the following strengths: 

  • Senior leaders and the staff team have created a positive culture of learning 
  • Staff support children effectively to develop a shared understanding of how to be successful 
  • Teachers and practitioners’ enthusiastic and collaborative approach to professional learning is leading to improved outcomes for children
  • Children benefit from positive, trusting relationships with teachers and other adults who work with them
  • Strong practices in numeracy and literacy lessons mean the children’s skills are developing well in this area and improving their outcomes. 
There is so much to be proud of in this report for everyone at Gartconner. From the Early Years Centre up into the school, the inspectors found so many positives in the way that the children are learning and developing.
