Chancellor’s Mansionhouse Speech

Scotwest CEO Welcomes the Chancellor’s commitment to strengthening the mutual sector.

At her first Mansionhouse speech on Thursday 14 November the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a raft of measures aimed at improving the UK financial sector including a pledge to double the size of the mutual economy.

Scotwest CEO Frances McCann said “I welcome the Chancellor’s commitment in her Mansion House speech to strengthen the mutual sector through targeted measures that will help credit unions better serve their communities.

Credit unions play a vital role in providing affordable financial services and promoting financial inclusion. As member-owned institutions, we reinvest our profit to benefit our members directly through competitive rates, improved services, and community initiatives.

The government’s pledge to double the size of the mutual economy will enable credit unions like Scotwest to expand our reach and support more families with ethical, accessible financial solutions.”
