Back

Dear all,

I think it’s safe to say we’ve all felt the weather getting colder this week and I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the fantastic work our Roads team do in responding to the challenges the seasonal weather can bring. Our crews are on call 24/7 to manage and deal with the weather conditions so a big thank you to everyone who ensures we are prepared for the winter ahead.

As I mentioned in my last update, if you haven’t already, please take time to read through the information relating to our move to monthly pay from April 2025. You can find updated FAQs on the Employee Zone.

If you were watching Children in Need last Friday night, you may have noticed a familiar venue. The Allander Leisure Centre hosted special guests from BBC Radio Scotland including Michelle McManus, as they took part in the Thousand Mile Challenge swimathon. It was fantastic to see the pool being used for such a wonderful cause and thanks to all the Allander staff who looked after our special guests and made them feel right at home for the week.

As mentioned in Employee News 34 our ‘Your Voice Matters’ Employee Survey 2024 has now launched. We want to get your views on the following five key themes:

  • Leadership
  • Communication and Engagement
  • Management
  • Teamwork
  • Wellbeing

The survey should only take a few minutes to complete, and the results will give an understanding of how you feel about working for the Council and will help to inform our Workforce Action Plans for the year ahead.

Please take the time to respond as we really want to hear your views.

Now for some updates….

Fill our festive stockings locally this Christmas

If you are looking to fill your stockings with unusual and gorgeous gifts, there’s no need to leave East Dunbartonshire as a trio of treats await at our arts venues.

The annual Art & Craft exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch has an interesting selection of unique gifts with a focus on sustainability. A wide range of craft work from local and national craft makers will be for sale including handmade jewellery, ceramics, soaps, candles, woodwork and textiles.

You can find out more at the News section of the website.

Financial Awareness Sessions

There’s still time to attend one of the Financial Awareness sessions organised by People Development and HR. With external partners attending such as Strathclyde Pension Fund and ScotWest Credit Union, the sessions are for all employees regardless of role or grade. You can find dates for your diary on the Financial Wellbeing page of the Employee Zone.

Monthly Wellbeing Focus

As usual, our Monthly Wellbeing Focus is updated each month with key campaigns and details of support all employees can access. You can access this information on the Employee Zone.

And Finally….

As we do every year East Dunbartonshire marks Remembrance Sunday with services in towns and villages across the area. Provost Renwick, Councillors and senior management gathered at eleven War Memorials with our communities in acts of Remembrance. The service organised by the Council was held at Bearsden Cross and I was honoured to attend and represent us all. A huge thank you to everyone involved.

Thanks,

Ann
