Introduction

Dear All,

Thankfully, the sun was out at the weekend for the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival. Once again, it was a fantastic weekend with thousands of people attending and taking part in the activities.

A lot of work goes into organising the Canal Festival each year, with people from various services across the Council contributing. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success.

Last week, we launched our 2025/2026 Budget consultation. We want to gather as many views as possible to ensure that those who live, work and run businesses in East Dunbartonshire have their say.

All employees can take part, but I particularly encourage those who live in the area, to take ten minutes to fill out the survey.

You can complete the survey here until Thursday 19 September. The responses will help to inform the budget, which will be set in February.

Now for some updates….

Early Years staff raise thousands for charity

At the end of August, 58 Early Years staff nicknamed Janet’s Tartan Army completed a 10K walk to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. The staff, from across eight Early Years Centres and the central management team, raised more than £4000 with donations still coming in!

The charity was chosen as it supports two team members Angela and Janet. Janet’s Tartan Army would like to thank all the families from the centres, as well as their Education colleagues, for their generous donations and support.

Monthly Wellbeing Focus

As usual, our Monthly Wellbeing Focus is updated each month with key campaigns and details of support all employees can access. You can access this information on the Employee Zone.

And Finally….

As ever, I’d like to thank you all for your ongoing hard work in delivering essential services and key projects for our residents.

Thanks,

Ann
