Rewarding ​excellence for Council Employees that go the extra mile 

STARs is the Council's Special Thanks and Recognition scheme for recognising achievements across the Council for individual employees and teams.  STARs was developed in recognition that high quality services will only be delivered by a workforce that is enthusiastic, caring and committed to the community and who strive to do their best in all aspects of their day to day role and responsibilities. 

There will be five categories for individuals and teams that go the extra mile at this year's annual STARs Award Celebration:

Internally nominated by colleagues:
  • Employee Award - Going the extra mile
  • Young Employee of the Year
  • Team Award - Going the extra mile
Externally nominated by customers, members of the public or partners:
  • Employee Award - Going the extra mile
  • Team Award - Going the extra mile


Time scale

18 April Launch
18 April – 26 May Nominations sought
29 May – 2 June  Judging Panel prepare a short-leet
2 June  Short-leet announced and invited to Award celebration
28 June  STARs Award Celebration (5 winners announced)


Making a nomination

Please read the full details of the Award criteria in the leaflet before completing the nomination form.

Nominations forms are available as follows:

  • Online
  • Hardcopy: Leaflets and nomination forms are available from Council HQ at Southbank Marina and the Community Hubs in Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Lennoxtown and Bishopbriggs Library.

Nominations should be no more than 1,000 words and should meet the criteria for the nomination category, may include comments or feedback from other Council services and colleagues or from residents, the public or partner organisations.

The closing date for nominations is 12noon on Friday 26 May.
