Technical Notes 2025, Issue 68 - Bearsden Primary School Refurbishment
Details
1. The purpose of this technical note is to provide a progress update on the on-going refurbishment project at Bearsden Primary School.
2. The replacement of the windows and stonework refurbishment continues to progress well and is scheduled for practical completion week commencing 12th May 2025.
3. During the course of the stonework repairs, original lettering has been uncovered on the West elevation of the building (facing Drymen Road) which refers to the school’s original name, ‘Bearsden Academy’ as shown in the image below.

4. As this is an original feature and the building is listed, the project team have been advised to restore this lettering following consultation with Historic Environment Scotland.
5. During the course of the works, a temporary classroom unit has been erected within the playground to facilitate the decant of classes during the project. This unit will be removed from site on 24th April 2025. In order to undertake this operation safely, a lane closure will be required at the junction of Drymen Road with Roman Road on 24th April 2025 between 9.30am and 2.30pm. Advance warning signage will be in place on site. During the road closure, 4-way traffic lights and temporary pedestrian crossings will be in operation.
