    Community Support Team Inspection

    This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Member. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

  • The Care Inspectorate (CI) carried out an inspection of our Community Support Team (CST) on the 22 and 23 January 2025. The final report has now been published, this technical note is to inform of the outcome.
  • The core functions of the CST are:
    • Supervised family time as directed by Court or the Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration.
    • Supervised family time and interventions as required informing parenting capacity assessment and providing evidence for legal proceedings.
    • Parenting advice, support and interventions.
    • Individual work with young people to provide emotional support and strategies.
    • Direct intervention with an early and effective child’s plan focus.
    • Provision of respite for children and families who are affected by disability.
    • Seasonal networking with the community to support vulnerable families.
    • Joint working with Health Visitors, Early Years Team and Education
    • Out of hours support and interventions which are focused on child safety and protection.
    • Supporting Educational needs in line with the curriculum of excellence.
  • In evaluating quality, CI use a six point scale where 1 is unsatisfactory and 6 is excellent:
    • How well do we support people's wellbeing? 6 - Excellent
    • How good is our leadership? 6 - Excellent
    • How good is our staff team? 6 - Excellent
    • How well is our care and support planned? 5 - Very Good
