This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared out with the Council.
The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members that the frequency of general waste (grey) bin collections will change from Sunday 30 March 2025
This change was approved in March 2024 as part of the Council’s 2024/2025 budget
This change brings the Council in line with the majority of Scottish local authorities and aims to encourage more recycling, reduce what is sent to landfill and reduce both operational and disposal costs
Collection frequency for all recycling and garden waste will remain unchanged at two-weekly, and food waste will remain weekly
A full communications plan will launch on Thursday, 6 February using a variety of online and offline communications methods to inform residents. This includes social media, website updates, media releases, tags on every household’s grey bin, and information included in our annual Council Tax leaflet
A full set of online FAQ’s have also been created and will be updated in line with residents’ most common queries.
