Section
The purpose of this technical note is to notify Members of a forthcoming Drainage Survey as well as Archaeological Trenching works, associated with the Westerhill Development Road (WDR) project.
A Drainage Asset Survey will begin on Monday 10th June for a 2-week duration. The survey will look at existing chamber sizes as well as levels of outfall and intake. The survey will also incorporate a CCTV condition survey of the existing drainage system along Cole Road, Kirkintilloch Road (A803) at Torrance Roundabout, Westerhill Road at Lochgrog Roundabout and the northern section of Crosshill Road.
In order to facilitate the drainage survey, it will be necessary to incorporate rolling temporary traffic lights. The temporary traffic lights will be supplied by LANES Group and will be in place for the 2-week period between 7am and 7pm. A permit has been granted by EDC Roadworks.
Archaeological evaluation works in the form of trenching will also begin across the proposed WDR route on Monday, 10th June. The work is scheduled to last for a period of 4 weeks in total and will involve the digging of approximately 30 trenches. Given the intrusive nature of the works, RAMS have been submitted and were approved by EDC H&S.
Caledonian Properties and Loretto Playing fields have agreed use of the Balloon Barrage site as a compound for the duration of the Archaeological Trenching. The trenching work will take place off road and land access licences are being agreed.
Landowners/tenants and HMP Low Moss have been advised of the start dates and nature of both surveys.
