This is the third in a series of Technical Notes to update Members on the ongoing planning and arrangements for the upcoming By-election for Ward 7 Kirkintilloch East & North and Twechar.
Members will be aware that the By-election is scheduled to take place on 13 February 2025.
The timelines for the By-election are tight, not least due to the impending Christmas holidays, and there are numerous key dates which will be of interest to Members. Updated timelines will be issued as dates are confirmed.
The next key date in the planning process is the Prospective Candidates Briefing which is scheduled for 4.30pm on Tuesday 17 The purpose of the Briefing is to give prospective candidates an idea of what to expect and what is required in terms of the nomination processĀ It will also give an idea of the level of commitment in the event that they are successful in seeking election.
The Briefing session will also provide prospective candidates with an opportunity to make an appointment to submit nomination papers. The nomination period will run from Monday 6 January to Monday 13 January 2025.
