This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members as per the meeting of Council, on 26 September 2024, when officers were asked to seek further information from Police Scotland partners on progress with changes to the local Police Estate.
  • Members are advised that there is no significant update regarding closure of Bishopbriggs and Milngavie police offices. However, the proposal continues to be that both will close, and all uniformed officers will move to Kirkintilloch.
  • Senior local police officers have confirmed that they do still have community officers working and deploying from both locations as the process concludes. Further, although the public front counter at Bishopbriggs has already been closed, however, a public front counter does remain in place at Milngavie, and of course, at Kirkintilloch.
  • The Chief Inspector advises that there has been no co-location confirmed in the west of the locality, however that Police Scotland do wish to maintain a physical presence in a building with suitable arrangements when Milngavie closes, and these options are being explored.
  • Police Scotland response locally is via 101 to report criminality and 999 in an emergency. They can also be contacted via the Police Scotland website. Community officers can be contacted on email GreaterGlasgowLPSTEastDunbartonshire@scotland.police.uk
  • The proposed local Police and Fire Forum is welcomed by Police Scotland as an additional opportunity for increased communication and engagement.
