For its latest celebration of local history, the Milngavie Heritage Group has created a display focusing on the nearby Loch Katrine Water Scheme. And Provost Renwick was on hand to officially open it today.

Entitled ‘Milngavie Waterworks – A Victorian Legacy’, the exhibition shares the story of this magnificent feat of engineering and how it changed the lives of thousands of people in the surrounding area.

A keen supporter of the work of the group, Provost Renwick officially opened the display in Milngavie Library and was delighted to learn more about the fascinating subject.

She said, “Since its inauguration by Queen Victoria in 1859, this scheme has played a huge role in the lives of the local community and is woven into the heritage of the area. I am grateful to the members of the Milngavie Heritage Group for their continued efforts to keep these rich local stories alive for future generations.”
