Films are back at Kirkintilloch Town Hall following successful funding bids to the Council’s Community Grants Scheme and the National Lottery Awards for All by Kirky Cinema.
And Provost Renwick had a front row seat as the reels started rolling again.
With the help of Fergus the Civic Dug she officially opened the not-for-profit cinema before a special dementia-friendly screening of ‘Singin' in the Rain’.
She said,
Kirky Cinema has partnered with Alzheimer Scotland for its dementia-friendly events which is wonderful. Everyone had a great time at the opening and I hope the Cinema goes from strength to strength.”
Fergus was a big hit with the people there to see the film.
Provost Renwick explained, “They were petting him and asking for a paw and I gave some of them treats to give him. Alzheimer Scotland have specially trained dogs that help people living with dementia and they're looking for local people to house the dogs until they go to a person. Find out more on the Alzheimer Scotland website.”
