Fun at Bishopbriggs Community Day

At this year’s Bishopbriggs Community Day, Provost Gillian Renwick inaugurated three Balmuildy Primary School pupils as Youth Ambassadors to Bishopbriggs Community Council.

The newly appointed ambassadors then declared the Community Day ‘Open’, as their first official duty.

Provost Renwick said,

It was an honour to officially inaugurate the new Youth Ambassadors to Bishopbriggs Community Council and I am very much looking forward to getting to know them better over the next year.

Youth ambassadors will visit the Council Headquarters

As with all Bishopbriggs Community Council Youth Ambassadors, the young people will be coming to meet me at East Dunbartonshire Council Headquarters, where I will show them around the Council Chambers and talk to them about the role of the Provost and of Elected Members in Local Government.”

The Provost also thanked the outgoing Youth Ambassadors, three pupils from Thomas Muir Primary, for all their hard work in carrying out the important role over the last year. She said, “It was a privilege to thank the outgoing Youth Ambassadors from Thomas Muir Primary School on behalf of the people of Bishopbriggs. Over the last year the dedicated young people have participated in official events, switched on the Bishopbriggs Christmas lights, distributed Easter eggs and cards to Mavis Bank Nursing Home residents and worked at the stalls at the recent Bishopbriggs Girl Guides’ Centenary event. The terrific trio had a very successful tenure as Youth Ambassadors and Bishopbriggs Community Council thank them, their school and their families for supporting the programme.”
