Launch of Families Outside Video
Provost Gillian Renwick recently attended the launch of a video to promote the work of Families Outside, a charity which supports families affected by imprisonment.
The event, organised by Families Outside in collaboration with young people from Lenzie Academy Community Engagement (LACE), was held at Bishopbriggs Library.
This was the first public screening of the charity’s new promotional video, which was produced by third year pupils from Lenzie Academy as part of their Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) project. The film is a moving depiction of a young person trying to find the words to write to their dad in prison who phones Families Outside for support.
Provost Renwick said,
Provost continued
it is a fantastic piece of work that effectively conveys both the support provided by Families Outside and the reason why it is so vital. The project team thoroughly researched the effects of imprisonment on families and put a lot of thought into this emotive video. Despite not being affected by imprisonment themselves, they clearly understand just how important Families Outside is to people in this situation.”
Provost Renwick continued, “We are fortunate to have so many talented, empathetic and community minded young people in East Dunbartonshire. It was an honour to meet the YPI project team and the young people from LACE, as well as the wonderful people from Families Outside who do a tremendous job.”
