No drama as Kirkintilloch Players celebrate centenary

Local amateur drama group, the Kirkintilloch Players, is celebrating 100 fun-filled years of performing for audiences through the decades.

Provost Gillian Renwick joined The Players in Kirkintilloch Town Hall to help mark their centenary year and on behalf of the people of East Dunbartonshire she presented Vice President Lorna Campbell with a commemorative poster, showing a detailed chronology of all past performances up to the present day.

She said,

The Kirkintilloch Players are a huge part of the town and its history, so it was my pleasure to join them as they celebrated such a special milestone.

Proud history

What an accomplishment to have created such a proud history, entertaining countless local people along the way. They have brought joy to generations by sharing their talents.

“The group continues to thrive thanks to its members’ love for what they do and their commitment to ensuring that the arts continue to flourish. I wish them all the best in this their centenary year and look forward to many, many more years of fun and drama as they tread the boards.”

Note - Kirkintilloch Players was started by three young men - Alex Bain, David Sinclair and Bill St Clair in 1923, during prohibition in Kirkintilloch.
