Indicative Local Housing Land Requirement – Consultation
Consultation is being held on a preferred Indicative Local Housing Land Requirement for East Dunbartonshire as part of the preparation of a new Local Development Plan – LDP3.
LDP3 will consider the ambitions and outcomes for the area, looking 20 years ahead. It will be developed through collaboration and based on robust evidence.
The first key step is an Evidence Report which sets out the broad concepts that will shape the plan. Once completed, it will provide a foundation upon which the new LDP can be built, with sufficient evidence to inform its content, policies and strategy.
Public Consultation
Initial public consultation for the Evidence Report took place in late 2023/early 2024. A series of more focused evidence ‘Topic Groups’ then met in August and September 2024 to discuss a range of subjects, including housing.
Consultation is now taking place specifically on the Indicative Local Housing Land Requirement (I-LHLR) for East Dunbartonshire – which will form part of LDP3.
You can have your say via the online survey between 4 November and 13 December 2024.
Alternatively, a drop-in session will be held at Milngavie Library and Community Education Centre on Thursday 28 November 2024, between 2.30pm and 7.30pm – where you can access more information and provide feedback.
Process
The methodology and process followed to set the I-LHLR is outlined in the Housing Technical Paper (Appendix 7) – available from the Documents section of this webpage.
The paper also sets out detailed evidence on matters relating to housing quality, including: affordable housing; housing for older people; the accommodation needs of Gypsies and Travellers; and energy efficient homes.
Please note, the I-LHLR applies to East Dunbartonshire as a whole. It does not detail potential sites.
If you have any questions, please email development.plan@eastdunbarton.gov.uk by 13 December 2024.
Alternatively, you can write to Land Planning Policy, East Dunbartonshire Council, Southbank House, Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch, G66 1XQ or call 0300 123 4510.
Next steps
Consultation feedback will be used to inform the LDP3 Evidence Report, which is expected to be considered by a meeting of the Council in 2025, after which it will be submitted to the Scottish Government for independent assessment.
Results from the consultation will be available from this webpage in due course.
